People with disabilities in Sri Lanka typically face significant stigma and discrimination. Due to cultural beliefs disabilities are often seen as fate for wrong-doing in a previous life, and abandoned at a young age since a disability is perceived as omens of bad luck leaving them with zero chance to express themselves as individuals.
MAZE believes in helping people be who they are and express their personalities, regardless of who they are. So partnering with Prithipura Communities who is an essential part of disability support in Sri Lanka was a no brainer.

Prithipura Communities is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation. They provide a home to some of the most vulnerable in Sri Lanka; those with disabilities, regardless of ethnicity, religion or financial means who have little or no family contact. They currently support 250 children and adults with disabilities.
They believe in the intrinsic value of all humans regardless of disability and that people with disabilities should have equal access to a family life, education, work opportunities and community integration. We believe that people with disabilities should also have the freedom to make independent choices and ultimately live a life free of stigma. Read More
